  • Eligibility: The CLAT eligibility criteria are based on your chosen programs. Hence, those seeking admission in a 5-year integrated law program need to score a minimum of 45% marks in 10+2, while one-year LLM aspirants must have passed a law degree with at least 50% marks.
  • Mode of application: Filling out the CLAT application form is in online mode.
  • Mode of Payment: the fee should be paid in ONLINE mode using net banking, credit or debit cards, and UPI.
  • Data Checking: All information entered in the CLAT application form will be cross-checked with the originals at the time of counseling.  the candidate will be disqualified In case of a mismatch. So, enter authentic information only while filling out the form.
  • Selection of Test Center: Only 3 exam centers are selected on personal preference. The exam center details will be mentioned in the CLAT Admit Card.
  • Submitting more than one form: Only the last application will be considered upon submitting more than one application form. Besides this, fees paid for previously filled forms will not be refunded.

Documents Required for filling CLAT Application Form

Before you begin to fill out the CLAT application, prepare the below-mentioned items:

  • An active and working Mobile Number and Email ID
  • Class 10 and 12 mark sheet 
  • Address proof IDs (Aadhaar Card/Driving License/PAN Card, etc.)
  • Scanned Passport size photograph (Format: JPEG)
  • Category certificate if applying for SC/ST/OBC category
  • Certificate issued by a justified authority if applying as PwD or BPL candidate.

How to fill out CLAT Application Form?

The registration process for CLAT will be online. Also, the registration window will be the same for both the UG and PG candidates. The step-wise guide to registering and fill the CLAT application form is mentioned below.

Step 1- Online Registration:

  • Tap on the registration link given above
  • You will be directed to a registration window.
  • Click on the “Register” button.
  • A registration form will open where you will have to enter registration details like name, mobile number, and email id. Also, choose and confirm a password for the candidate account.

Step 2- Fill out the CLAT Application Form

To access the application form, you will need to log in to the account using your phone number and password. Once you log in, you will see the screen stated below.

The process to fill out the form:-

  • Choose the program  – you can choose the Under Graduate (U.G) 5 Year LL.B Course or Post Graduate (P.G) 1 Year LL.M Course. Then tap on the “Apply for CLAT ” button.
  • Personal info – in this section, you have to upload a photograph and your signature in jpeg/png format of considerable size. Other details should be entered like the date of birth, mother’s and father’s name, gender, nationality, and All India category under which admission is preferred (SC/ST, OBC, or General). Finally, mention your domicile state. Reserved category, PwD, and BPL candidates must upload the required certificate and documents.
  • Communication Details- in this section, Fill your present and permanent address.
  • Qualifying examination – Select the qualifying exam section from the drop-down menu. Enter the necessary details like name of the board (or university), appearing/ appeared or passed, year and month of passing, and percentage.
  • Exam Centre Preferences – In this section, you have to select THREE exam centers for CLAT exam according to personal easiness. Ensure the correct preference, like select Test Center Preference – 1 for the test center for the first preference. while using Test center preference. choose 3 for the least preferred exam center. According to the official notice, The CLAT exam will be conducted in 82 test centers. However, note that the confederation may change the list depending on the total number of applications allotted to each center.
  •   Reserved category – The candidate in this section can select categories for each NLU. The same can be used by the candidates who want to apply under additional categories.

Step 3: Submission of the Application Form

Ensure that the sections filled in the CLAT application form are correct. Remember that all the details will be cross-checked at the time of counseling, and if documents are found mismatched can lead to disqualification. Once you are delighted with the application in all aspects –

  •   Agree to the declaration form
  •   Click on the Third Party Communication Details Agreement with your consent 
  •   Submit the form

Once you select the agreement with your consent and submit the Application form, the following page will appear. 

Step 4: Pay CLAT Application Fee

After filling and submitting the application form, the candidate must pay the application or exam fee under the specified category. Candidates can preferably pay the application fee online using(debit card/credit card/net banking).

Note:

  •   Candidates are willing to purchase the previous year’s CLAT question papers by paying an additional fee of Rs 500.
  •   The candidate from their desired accounts will download the question paper once the fee has been successfully paid.

The 22 participating NLUs will accept only the CLAT scores for admission in UG and PG courses for the upcoming academic session. The program type seat is as follows:

  • 5-year LLB program – 2944 seats
  • One-year LLM – 894 seats

How to recover the CLAT login password?

If in case, candidates forget the password which is required to login into their registered account, they can recover it by following the steps described below:

  1. Visit the official website 
  2. Tap on the ‘Forgot Password’ link in the Login window
  3. Fill in the details of the registered mobile number and click on ‘Request OTP.’
  4. Enter OTP
  5. Make a new password and then click on log in

CLAT Application Form Correction

Remember that The Consortium of NLUs does not provide any window for correction of CLAT application forms. However, was an exception as the confederation increased the number of test cities due to COVID-19. Therefore, along with changing the preferences for test cities, candidates could also edit a few particulars in their application forms, such as name, date of birth, and reservation category. Check the mentioned steps below to edit the CLAT exam center and application form correction facility as listed below:

  • Click on the application correction link
  • Log in by filling in the mobile number and password
  • Click on the Edit Application button
  • Go to the Preferences tab
  • Make the required changes
  • Click on Next 
  • Click on the declaration checkbox
  • Click on Save

CLAT Registration Statistics

Around 60,000 candidates appear in the CLAT exam. If we look at the previous record, In 2021, around 70,277 candidates registered for the CLAT exam, out of which 62,106 appeared in it. In 2020, out of 75,183 registrations, only 59,443 students appeared in the exam. Out of the 59,443 candidates, on a preference basis, 53,226 appeared for UG, and 6,217 appeared for the PG exam.

CLAT Admit Card

Once filling out the online application process for the exam is finished, the Confederation of NLUs will release the CLAT admit card on the official website of the exam. After that, Candidates will be able to download the admit card from the official site by logging into their registered account. 

The CLAT admit card will contain all essential data about the candidate (such as name, date of birth, gender, photo, and signature) and the exam (such as date, time, and test center address). It will be compulsory for candidates to take the admit card to the allotted CLAT exam center mentioned in the admit card and a valid and original photo ID proof.

The CLAT exam will be performed in pen and paper mode. CLAT scores will be helpful to get enrolling in the following courses. 

  1. 5-year LLB – Currently, 25 participating NLUs offer the five-year law program.
  2. One year LLM – This program is offered by only 19 of the participating NLUs
